I think he means the casters run on the body top pointing down.

Oh I get it you mean like this!

I think the Russian tanks will just be using the breaks independently to stop each side of a differential and thus transfer the power to the other track, the argo does the same thing.

thats looks good, and the brackets can be screwed on and of, very neat,

i was thinking about useing fixed ballbearings at intervals for the turet to sit on, and to run in a grove around the turet ring on the hull, with the retaining brackets to keep every thing locked on,

I think this is how I am going to do it but I still have to think out the spring tensioner on the wheels.
The ring of pipe will add rigidity to the 1.5mm aluminium.

I think if anyone is thinking about making a tank like the Russians have done on that site, that the Bedford Rascal van could be a perfect donor.

They have a 1000 cc Suzuki petrol engine under the seats so are classed as mid engined.
They have an old style rear fixed axle and the prop shaft can be shortened down.
You will also be able to find Suzuki Carry and Rascal vans quite cheap as the doors and wheel arches rot off.
I am not suggesting you use the van body just the drive gear, which is quite good.

thats a good idear,

i had thoght about doing a ford transit van into an M113 AP for the vietnam days, but it would be just to big (i think ) :) for ower roads,

but the rascals would be a grate donor at a cheap price,

The biggest problem is getting the tracks sorted out.
Conveyor rubber would be best if it was a full loop maybe 23-ft long.
As the Russians have done each track is made of 2 pieces of rubber so you have a slot down the centre for the drive sprocket to engage through to the connecting ribs/ slats.
But what are those slats made out of?
Maybe they are off an existing Russian vehicle I will have to ask a friend in the Ukraine.

This site looks good http://www.taeryuk.com/eng/sub2_2.php

Edit I have seen that Ausi Sherman and it's a hell of a lot of work in those tracks.

As I said above he is in Australia, and the time it takes to make those tracks you could half build the rest of the tank.
However he has made a great job.
If you look at the Russian tracks they have an easier design to them, they both use rubber conveyor track.
Here you can see the drive sprocket on the back and a slight view of the car engine inside. So the may be using a rear engined skoda as the engine is well above the sprocket.
Maybe the slats on the tracks are some form of angle bracket screwed throgh a conveyor track into some mild steel bar.
It is also much larger than the Australian Sherman so maybe 3 people can crew it.

I don't see why it would need 3 crew. Just a driver/hullgunner and a commander/turretgunner.

One of the pictures on their site shows 2 people side by side in the front so one may be on a lower MG and one the driver and someone on the turret.
I know what you are saying though but just making the point this is larger than the one seat Sherman.

i,m having to make it a little smaller overall, the main thing that will be noticable is the size of the tires atm,

i,m going for a crew of 3,
driver,
gunner,
commander/mg gunner/ radio operator, ( he,s got a lot to do) :)

i,v striped all of the un-wanted body work of and starting the frount part of the hull, including cutting kicking and baring off, dam them rusty bolts,
